The radio arrived in good shape and works well except for one major thing... The display is completely unreadable! I am outdoors on a cloudy day and I can barely see it. The pictures that I attached show this. All of the pictures of this radio show a very bright and readable display. Considering this is targeted to be a mobile radio out would be useless in a car during the day! Very disappointing!
Nice compact radio that appears to be quality built and suitable for easy mobile applications. Also, should be easy to move from mobile to mobile and base station applications. This IC980 dual band radio continues to increase in popularity. I have been using one since September of 2024 and get good reports on my transmit audio. Remember that out of the box the transmit audio is hot and you need to back away from the mic about 2 inches. I highly recommend this radio and especially Global Walkie Talkie Store as the preferred vendor.
